  • 3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1 pound)
  • 8 oz thinly sliced deli ham
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour
  • 3 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a large baking dish.
  2. Season chicken breasts with salt and pepper. Cook in a skillet over medium heat until fully cooked (6-7 minutes per side). Let rest before slicing thinly.
  3. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Whisk in flour and cook for about one minute until golden. Gradually add milk while whisking continuously until smooth. Stir in garlic powder, salt, and pepper; cook until thickened.
  4. Spread a thin layer of béchamel sauce at the bottom of the greased baking dish. Layer with noodles, sliced chicken, ham, mozzarella cheese, and more sauce. Repeat layers until ingredients are used up, finishing with remaining béchamel and topped with Parmesan.
  5. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes until bubbly and golden brown.
